Giving Thanks for the Path (and Pants) That Are Uniquely Yours

How do you define yourself professionally? By your title? Your job description? The projects you’ve worked on? While these are all pieces of the puzzle, they can also box us in—limiting how we see ourselves and who we’re capable of becoming.

The truth is, how we see ourselves directly impacts the paths we take, the risks we embrace, and the opportunities we attract. If you see yourself as just another marketer, creator, or strategist, it’s easy to settle for the status quo. But when you uncover your unique value—your angularity—it changes the game.

This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for the challenges that have shaped my career. The moments when I didn’t have the answers but kept moving anyway. Those tough spots forced reflection, growth, and ultimately helped me understand my angularity—what makes me uniquely me. And here’s the thing: it’s those challenges that shape all of us, guiding us closer to what makes us stand out.

• What sparks your curiosity? What gets you excited, even if it feels outside your comfort zone?

• What work feels natural? Look at your career—what roles or projects have felt effortless yet impactful?

•What do others see in you? Sometimes the people around you can connect the dots you can’t. Ask trusted peers what they see as your strengths.

These reflections are the beginning of defining your angularity—the combination of your skills, experiences, and perspective that makes you stand out. And once you define it, everything shifts. You stop chasing opportunities that don’t align and start stepping into ones that do.
